The Frequently Asked Questions (NSW ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund) clarify matters that have been raised by organisations intending to make a grant funding submission. It will continue to be updated in response to inquiries.

All potential applicants are encouraged to regularly review the Frequently Asked Questions below to ensure that their application addresses the relevant requirements.

The NSW ATP Cup Tennis Legacy Fund (the Fund) is an initiative established by Tennis NSW and the NSW Government, as a result of securing the ATP Cup Group and Finals matches in Sydney from 2020.

The Fund will invest over $5m into community tennis across NSW over three years, targeting infrastructure, facility development and participation programs that support the growth of the game.

$1.2 million of the funding has been invested by the NSW Government with $1.2 million in matched funds from Tennis NSW. Tennis NSW is committed to providing additional funds to support the Tennis NSW strategy that will increase the total overall funding available to over $5m.

A total of $330,000 is available through Round 3 across Categories 2 and 3.

Category 2 is for facility development or upgrade - small to medium facility development or upgrade projects that will increase participation.

Up to $260,000 will be provided Round 3 through Category 2.

Category 3 is for participation initiatives - to increase the types of opportunities to participate in tennis through delivery of a specific new or existing program, from social to competitive levels.

Up to $100,000 will be provided Round 3 through Category 3. Eligible project examples are included within the Guidelines

Yes. In-kind support can count towards your co-contribution.

In-kind contributions are goods, services, equipment or labour that others provide to the project. An in-kind contribution may include, for example, contributed ‘time’ for a project manager, venue or equipment that would otherwise need to be hired.

In-kind contributions should be valued at fair market rate. The rationale for the value must be capable of being verified.

Your budget should clearly demonstrate what components are an in-kind contribution. Please note ineligible project costs in the Guidelines

In-kind contributions can help to demonstrate the true value of your project. Applications that demonstrate how the program may be sustainable beyond the funding period, with long-term community benefit, will be favoured.

For further information on in-kind contributions please engage with your Tennis NSW local Tennis Development Officer.

The budget provided should be exclusive of GST.

For Category 2:

Projects must commence no later than December 2022 and be completed by 31 December 2023.

For Category 3:

Projects must commence no later than January 2023 and be completed by 31 December 2023.

Stakeholder partnerships can assist in forming the required funding contribution figure for each Category but partners can also be any relevant organisation which is supportive of the project and can assist with implementation in some way.

Partners can include organisations such as local Council, clubs and associations, schools, other landowners, local business partnerships or community organisations.

Projects and programs that best demonstrate the ability to achieve the strategic objectives of the Fund will be prioritised for investment.

Applicants can include letters of support from partner organisations Page 7 of the application form in SmartyGrants (Merit Assessment - Capacity to Deliver section).

All information and supporting documents required are included in the Guidelines. It is essential that applicants are project and investment ready prior to applying. This means:

  • relevant approvals have been sought (if any)
