Meet head Chef John Finter

April 2016

Lake Ainsworth's head chef John Finter is cooking up culinary surprises with the emphasis on “healthy, yummy and visually appealing”
If you expect camp food to be boring, you obviously haven’t been to Lake Ainsworth Sport and Recreation Centre where head chef John Finter is cooking up culinary surprises with the emphasis on “healthy, yummy and visually appealing” dishes.

“People eat with their eyes,” says the Neil Perry fan, ardent surfer and Lennox Head local of 35 years with a grin.

“We’re creating food that takes our visitors by surprise.”

Installed at Lake Ainsworth since March 2015, the former restaurateur is determined to present meals that have culinary edge.

Director of Rugby at the Office of Sport, Sean Hedges, was mightily impressed with a recent rugby camp held at Lake Ainsworth.

“The food was sensational – you know you’ve done well when there are ZERO complaints from a bunch of 18 and 19 year-olds!! Our compliments to the chef!”

“Getting positive feedback makes my day” says Finter.

Best of all, the chef also caters for coeliacs, vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians and allergies, so prepare for mouth-watering freshness when next you visit our venue.
