Looking for a unique and fun challenge that will put your students' mental and physical limits to the test? Want to help develop their teamwork skills, resilience and confidence in an exciting outdoor setting? Then it's time to unleash their inner warrior!
Designed exclusively for secondary students, this 15km endurance event will see teams of six go head-to-head with other schools as they run, climb, jump and crawl their way through mud pits, vertical-climbing platforms, monkey bars and more.
We encourage students of all abilities to get involved, with five categories to compete in, including:
- Open Boys (all students)
- Open Girls (all students)
- Open Mixed (all students, must be both genders)
- Best dressed (may include students and adults, any gender)
- All Aged teams (may include students and adults, any gender).
The challenge includes a five kilometre run, followed by a two kilometre log and cinder block carry, and an 8km, 40-obstacle course complete with a mud run. A BBQ lunch will also be provided.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear?
Wear old clothing and closed shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy. We also recommend bringing a change of warm clothes for when you’ve finished the race. Dressing up is also part of the fun! Wear something wild to stand out from the crowd, or show some team camaraderie by dressing in matching uniforms.
Are showers available?
Yes, showers and change rooms are available on site so you can wash off and enjoy the rest of your day relaxing at the Centre.
Can I get photos?
Photos will be taken on the day by our Centre staff. We will upload the images to Facebook after the event where you are free to tag yourself, as well as friends and family. Follow us at FB.com/LakeKeepitSportandRec.
You can also take your own photos, however, we suggest taking them before or after you complete the course so you don’t damage your phone or camera.
Will the event be cancelled due to bad weather?
The event will go ahead rain, hail, or shine.
How do I get there?
Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre is just 30 minutes from Gunnedah and 45 minutes from Tamworth. There is no public transport directly to Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre. However, individuals can catch a train to and from Tamworth station, and catch a local taxi to the Centre. Public transport timetable information is available at transportnsw.info.
Is there car parking?
Free parking is available on site.
Do I need to know how to swim?
The mud pits aren’t too deep, but if you don’t feel comfortable you can choose to skip this part of the obstacle course.
