The Office of Sport’s Northern Region delivers a range of services and initiatives designed to enhance sport and recreation in Northern NSW.

With offices located in Newcastle, Lennox Head and Ourimbah, we work across the industry to facilitate best practice and cultivate greater capacity for sport and recreation in the community.

Our development programs benefit clubs with training on safety, finances, risk management, grant writing, sponsorship and running a club.

We also deliver education opportunities for athletes and coaches, including accreditation in fitness and AUSTSWIM, to strengthen the industry as a whole.

Partnering with schools, universities, PCYC and other sports bodies is another way we promote learning and participation in sport and recreation.

We also provide advice to local government and are members on a number of sports councils and taskforces developing strategies and programs to make sport and recreation more accessible to more people, more often.

We believe volunteers are the heart of the sport and recreation industry and we foster this through development programs that help sports clubs and organisations recruit, mentor and retain volunteers.

We also collaborate with not-for-profit organisations to deliver greater access to sport and recreation for people with disability, those living in rural areas, seniors, women and the Indigenous community.
